Object and Purpose of the Program
The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program (MSc) “Care and Support for Children and Adolescents with Special Health Needs in the Community” is a strategic pillar of the University of the Peloponnese, promoting educational and research programs with a direct connection to the local community, internationalization, and support for individuals with disabilities. The program focuses on the specialization of professionals involved in the care of children and adolescents with special health needs (CASHN), enhancing both nursing care and holistic support through an interdisciplinary approach.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
The program aims at the theoretical and practical specialization of scientists in fields such as nursing care, speech therapy, special education, and psychosocial support. Graduates will acquire the necessary skills to manage complex health issues in children and adolescents, while also enhancing the care provided to their families. The MSc promotes innovative care practices and cost-effective interventions through the use of technology, improving the quality and efficiency of health services.
Specific Objectives
1. Address the gap in the training of CASHN caregivers through specialized practices.
2. Upgrade the healthcare system by promoting effective practices based on evidence-based data.
3. Develop knowledge and skills for scientists and caregivers to improve the quality of life of CASHN.
4. Strengthen research and the development of innovative, low-cost services with the aid of technology.
5. Connect theoretical knowledge with practical care at both national and international levels.
6. Provide continuous support to CASHN and their families through applied research and collaboration with health professionals.
7. Raise social awareness and destigmatize CASHN.
The MSc offers high-level education and prepares students for successful careers in the public, private, and academic sectors, while also providing opportunities for doctoral studies both in Greece and abroad.
